Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Registered Nurse (RN), on our CICU you will support our 12-bed unit with a typical 1:2 patient ratio. The patient population includes diagnosis such as unstable angina and myocardial infarctions, arrhythmias, acute renal failure, acute respiratory failure, arrhythmias, cardiogenic shock, pneumonia, and sepsis. You will also provide clinical and administrative support on the unit for patients who have undergone cardiothoracic surgery including invasive hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, EKOS (PE and extremities), CRRT, ECMO, IMPELLA, intra-aortic Balloon Pump, and induced hypothermia.

• Your Primary function in this role is to instruct and educate patients and their family members.
• As a member of CICU you will administer all prescribed medications utilizing the 5 rights to medication administration, change dressings, clean wounds, and monitor vital signs.
• Our nursing team monitors, records and communicates patient conditions as appropriate utilizing computerized documentation systems.
• You will serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care, including patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Licensed a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia or has a Compact license
• Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• At least one year inpatient RN experience highly preferred
