Job summary

Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor is seeking an Advanced Practice Professional (NP/PA) for the Cardiac Intensive Critical Care Area. The role supports adult cardiac patients with complex conditions including NSTEMI/STEMI and advanced heart failure under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
• Current specialty certification to practice as an Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
• Current DEA registration
• AHA BLS and ACLS certified
• 1 year full time APP experience rounding in an ICU, inpatient cardiology, advanced heart failure service, or applicants who are currently enrolled in a recognized ICU focused APP fellowship (Critical Care medicine, Surgical Critical Care, Medical ICU, or Cardiology/Cardiovascular Surgery ICU).
• Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
• Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Satisfactory completion of a physician assistant program accredited by the ARC-PA, or predecessor agencies.
• State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required
• Current DEA registration
• AHA BLS and ACLS certified
• 1 year full time APP experience rounding in an ICU, inpatient cardiology, advanced heart failure service, or ICU fellowship (Critical Care, Surgical Critical Care, Medical ICU, or Cardiology/Cardiovascular Surgery ICU).

Responsibilities

• Under physician supervision, directs and coordinates care in the cardiac intensive critical care area.
• Care provided is for the adult patient population, including NSTEMI/STEMI, advanced heart failure, pre- and post-heart transplant, and mechanical circulatory support.
• Complete detailed histories and physicals, daily progress notes, discharge orders/documentation.
• Responsible for primary Code Team Coverage in the Pavilion
• Collect and interpret reports from diagnostic lab tests, radiographic procedures, and clinical studies.
• Order tests/prescribe medications.
• Present pertinent data to the medical staff and assist in maintaining continuity of care.
• Maintain accurate documentation regarding patient status, evaluations, and treatments
