Job summary

Methodist Healthcare System seeks a Patient Care Technician specialized in echo/cardiac ultrasound to perform physician-ordered cardiac exams, including echocardiograms and TEEs, under cardiology supervision.

Role requires registry eligibility (RDCS/RDMS-FE or RCS), and involves patient prep, data management, and collaboration with the care team. Strong attention to infection control and safety protocols is essential.

Qualifications

• Registry eligible for RDCS or RDMS-FE (ARDMS) or RCS (CCI).
• Associate’s degree/two-year allied health program with 1 year full-time ultrasound experience OR graduate of CAAHEP accredited sonography program (RCS/ARDMS eligibility).
• Bachelor’s degree with ultrasound experience or a bachelor’s in sonography/vascular tech (RCS/ARDMS eligibility).
• Current Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), RCCS or RVS (ARDMS eligibility).
• High school diploma with two years full-time cardiac/vascular ultrasound experience or non-accredited program with 800 clinical hours (RCS eligibility).

Responsibilities

• Acquire physician orders and prioritize STAT exams; obtain patient consent for procedures.
• Operate ultrasound equipment and ensure proper cleaning, storage and maintenance.
• Perform echocardiograms (2-D, M-mode, color Doppler, Doppler techniques) and TEEs; document results per policy.
• Assist with tilt-table testing and carotid imaging; ensure patient safety and data collection.
• Maintain patient reports, charge entry in Meditech, and data archiving.
