Job summary

MLK Community Healthcare in Los Angeles is seeking a skilled cardiac sonographer to perform a range of echocardiographic studies, including Doppler and stress testing. You will also assist with TEE procedures and interpret preliminary findings under physician guidance.

The ideal candidate holds ARDMS RDCS or CCI RCS credentials, at least two years of echocardiography experience, and a solid foundation in patient care. On-site role with opportunities to support a busy cardiology department.

Qualifications

• Completion of a sonography program with emphasis on echocardiography or equivalent on-the-job training.
• Minimum 2 years experience performing echocardiograms; ARDMS RDCS/RDMS or CCI RCS preferred.
• Credentialed with ARDMS or CCI certification as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Performs adult transthoracic 2D echocardiograms with doppler and stress tests.
• Assists with transoesophageal echocardiograms (TEE).
• Performs measurements and provides preliminary diagnostic findings.
• Prepares examinations by verifying orders and setting up equipment.
• Explains procedures to reduce patient anxiety and ensures comfort.
• Attaches leads and prepares sites for ECG/Echo.
• Reviews patient records and instructs patients prior to procedures.
• Monitors patients during procedures and reports abnormalities.
• Identifies artifacts and corrects for wandering signals.
• Edits and forwards results to physicians for interpretation.
• Maintains Echocardiography and Stress equipment and supplies.
• Other duties as assigned.
