Job summary

Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters in Norfolk, VA, seeks a Cardiac Sonographer to perform transthoracic and stress echocardiograms, and assist with transesophageal procedures as needed. You will also handle noninvasive tests like ECGs and Holter monitoring.

The role includes preparation of preliminary reports, adherence to HIPAA and billing workflows, and support for satellite sites. RDCS/RCCS credentials are highly preferred and ongoing education is expected.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Cardiac Ultrasound program (Bachelor's or Associate's Degree); in lieu of degree, high school diploma with applicable experience.

• Analytical skills to detect pathologies based on physiology and disease mechanisms.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients/families and staff.
• CPR training required or to be obtained within 45 days of hire.
• Ability to work at CHKD Main Hospital and satellite locations.

Responsibilities

• Performs echocardiograms in accordance with lab standards while meeting daily volume expectations.
• Ensures patient care in clean, safe environment; HIPAA compliant.
• Participates in staff meetings and quality assurance activities.
• Assists in teaching students and new technicians.
• Oversees daily operation of echocardiography services and equipment.
• Assists with creating/updating echocardiography policies.
• Maintains continuing education requirements.
• Performs noninvasive tests including ECGs and holter/event monitor application.
• Participates in call coverage.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
