Job summary

Mercy Hospital Springfield is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform adult echocardiography and produce high-quality diagnostic images. You will work closely with physicians and the care team to ensure accurate study results and patient education.

The role supports part-time daytime shifts, with opportunities for growth and ongoing professional development in a compassionate, patient-centered environment. Candidates must be eligible for ARDMS/CCI certification and BLS at minimum.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Sonography program with required clinical training.
• Or completion of on-the-job training under a Cardiac Ultrasound Preceptor.
• ARDMS RDCS or CCI RCS certification, or registry eligible (within 6 months).
• Current BLS certification and state licensure if required.

Responsibilities

• Perform adult echocardiography procedures and obtain diagnostic images.
• Select imaging techniques and ensure image quality before interpretation.
• Position patients and provide compassionate care and education.
• Document orders, procedures, contrast, and patient responses accurately.
• Monitor patients before/during/after exams and assist transfers safely.
• Maintain imaging records in PACS and perform routine equipment checks.
• Identify equipment needs and help implement resolutions.
• Collaborate with physicians and nurses to achieve optimal outcomes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
