Job summary

Qualifications

• Requires completion of an accredited Allied Health Cardiovascular program.
• ARDMS or CCI Cardiac Sonographer certification; registry eligible within 12 months.
• BLS certification required.
• Typically 1–2 years of clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs procedures by following and verifying referring providers’ orders; Oversees echocardiographic services and quality measures.
• Educates patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment; fosters teamwork and quality patient outcomes.
• Produces high quality images and provides preliminary findings to physicians.
• Demonstrates competence in prescribed invasive/interventional procedures per policy.
• Performs and evaluates equipment quality control; maintains a safe patient environment.
• Maintains confidentiality and adheres to professional and regulatory standards.
• Ensures efficient department workflow; manages supplies and inventory.
• Acts as clinical/technical expert in Cardiac Sonographic Imaging; trains staff and students.
• Ensures echocardiography functions comply with scope, accreditation and regulatory standards.
