Job summary

Uvalde Memorial Hospital in Uvalde, TX is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Respiratory Department. You will perform 12-lead EKGs, monitor rhythms, and assist with non-invasive cardiac diagnostics under physician supervision.

Required is a High School diploma or GED and current BLS certification. Completion of EKG interpretation courses within six months of hire is expected; prior EKG tech or healthcare experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Completion of EKG interpretation courses within 6 months of hire.
• Previous EKG technician or healthcare experience preferred.
• CNA, CMA, EKG Technician, or Phlebotomy Technician credentials preferred.
• Understanding of heart anatomy and EKG readings.

Responsibilities

• Perform 12-lead EKGs and rhythm strips according to procedures.
• Assist with stress testing under physician supervision.
• Apply and remove Holter monitors and educate patients on their proper use.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and promptly communicate abnormal findings to the team.
• Explain procedures to patients and provide reassurance throughout testing.
• Operate and maintain EKG machines and other diagnostic equipment.
• Document test results in the EMR and hospital systems.
• Maintain testing logs and patient documentation.
