Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current BLS certification for healthcare providers required.
• Completion of required EKG interpretation courses within six months of hire.
• Previous EKG technician or healthcare experience preferred.
• Certified CNA/MA/EKG tech credentials preferred.
• Understanding of heart anatomy, EKG readings, and EKG equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and accurate documentation.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with patients and healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Perform 12-lead EKGs and rhythm strips per procedures.
• Assist with stress testing under physician supervision.
• Apply and remove Holter monitors and educate patients.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and report abnormal findings promptly.
• Explain procedures and provide reassurance to patients.
• Protect patient comfort, privacy, and confidentiality.
• Operate and maintain EKG machines and related equipment.
• Document test results in the EMR and hospital systems.
• Prepare and route EKG reports to physicians.
• Maintain accurate testing logs and patient documentation.
• Follow infection control, safety, HIPAA, and hospital requirements.
• Participate in continuing education and quality improvement.
