CARDIAC DEVICE TECH 1 YEAR EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

Job Summary:

Cardiac Device Technician will provide thorough, proficient interrogation and reprogramming of Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices (CIED), commonly known as pacemakers and ICDs. These patients may present in person, remotely, and/or via phone transmission. Technicians may be responsible for initial device analysis, preliminary report generation, and alerting physicians or non-physician practitioners to urgent issues requiring further attention.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Interrogate, reprogram, and perform function analysis of CIEDs according to physician orders and under supervision of a physician or mid-level provider such as an NP or PA.
• Perform clinical analysis of pacemaker and ICD patients both in the clinic and remotely.
• Utilize various device programmers such as Medtronic, Boston Scientific, and St. Jude Medical proficiently.
• Conduct initial interrogation, threshold testing, review diagnostics, reprogram devices, and print final reports for physician review.
• Document in the Specialized Clinics flow sheet within the EHR, following the assigned physician's standards.
• Relay physician recommendations to patients regarding device adjustments.
• Coordinate and arrange low-volume device interrogations like ELA and Biotronik, and enter orders in EMR per protocol.
• Support and provide coverage for the Cardiac Monitoring Center as needed.
• Manage remote monitoring programs such as Merlin.net, Carelink, Latitude, and telephonic CIED analysis rooms for device patients and office visits.
• Perform serial reprogramming during Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy clinics.
• Maintain competency in device ECG monitoring, scanning, analysis, and report generation for physicians.
• Understand concepts related to ICD interrogation and function analysis.
• Perform ICD reprogramming as per physician orders.
• Recognize normal device function, threshold analysis, and programming during CIED implant procedures according to facility policy.
