UNC Health Rex is seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse IV Team Lead for the 7 HV Cardiac Medicine Intermediate Care Unit on the Heart and Vascular Hospital’s 7th floor. The role combines expert patient care with frontline leadership, mentorship, and unit coordination overnight on a 24-bed unit.

Candidates bring 2–5 years of nursing experience, preferred in cardiac ICU or intermediate care, with prior charge nurse or lead responsibilities and a commitment to evidence‑based practice, patient

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of nursing experience, preferably in cardiac intermediate care or high-acuity settings.
• Previous charge nurse and/or nursing leadership experience.
• Strong cardiac assessment and clinical judgment skills.
• Ability to mentor, coach, and support fellow nurses.
• Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Commitment to evidence-based practice, patient safety and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert, evidence-based nursing care to complex cardiac patients.
• Serve as clinical resource and role model for nursing staff.
• Coordinate daily unit operations as Charge Nurse, ensuring patient flow and safety.
• Support nurses with complex clinical situations and prioritization.
• Precept, mentor, and support staff development.
• Promote safe, evidence-based nursing practice and collaborate with the interprofessional team.
