Job description

We are seeking an experienced Cardiac Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to support surgical procedures in a fast-paced operating room environment. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, and perioperative procedures with recent hospital-based OR experience, including cardiac cases. This role requires excellent teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate surgical team needs while maintaining patient safety and aseptic standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain sterile surgical fields and operating room setup for various surgical procedures.
  • Perform scrub duties including gowning, gloving, draping, instrument setup, and passing surgical instruments and supplies.
  • Anticipate surgeon and surgical team needs during procedures to support efficient workflow.
  • Maintain accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse according to policy.
  • Ensure strict adherence to aseptic technique, infection control, and patient safety standards.
  • Assist with patient positioning, operative site preparation, specimen handling, dressings, and patient transfers.
  • Support operating room turnover, equipment cleaning, and preparation for subsequent procedures.
  • Assist nursing staff with circulating functions and maintaining operating room supplies and equipment.
  • Prepare and label medications and sterile solutions under RN supervision according to established guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia staff, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Support operational efficiency by assisting with inventory monitoring, preference card updates, and equipment organization.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an accredited CST/Surgical Technologist training program required.
  • Current CST Certification required.
  • Current AHA BLS certification required.

  • Shift is 7.5-hour day shift (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM), 37.5 hrs/week
  • Location is New York, NY 10029
  • Pay Range for Locals: $57 - $62 per hour
  • Pay Range for Travelers: $2,620 - $2,670 per week
