Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse for the Cardiac Cath/EP Lab. The role involves 2 ten-hour shifts per week starting at 7 am, with on-call from home 5–10 shifts monthly, including overnights, weekends, and some holidays.

Requirements include a BSN or higher, Illinois RN license, and BLS certification. Peds/cardiology procedural experience is preferred; visa sponsorship may be considered for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or higher required; associates may be allowed with experience.
• Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois.
• Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients/families, physicians and hospital staff.
• Special certifications may be required by the department.

Responsibilities

• Performs nursing assessments utilizing a variety of assessment methods and/or area-specific tools.
• Develops or individualizes plans of care and evaluates changes to the plan.
• Develops or individualizes teaching plans/protocols for patient/family learning needs.
• Performs nursing care according to procedures/protocols and intervenes in emergent situations.
• Communicates with family and multidisciplinary team to identify health care needs.
• Keeps up to date in nursing practice with current literature and guidelines.
• Integrates quality initiatives into daily activities and standards.
• Adheres to service and professional standards and supports hospital mission.
• Works cooperatively as a team member to achieve unit/hospital goals.
• Identifies learning needs and seeks resources to advance nursing practice.
• Delivers care with service principles of innovation, excellence, and teamwork.
