Job summary

Bon Secours is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Cardiovascular Surgery Step-Down Unit on a PRN basis at St. Mary’s Hospital. The role supports nurses with basic patient care, vital signs, and activities of daily living, while maintaining patient comfort and safety.

The PCT will document care, communicate changes to the care team, and assist with mobility and daily tasks. EPIC EHR training is preferred, with BLS certification expected and nursing aide credentials as listed in the job

Qualifications

• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred; must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)
• Must have completed one of: nursing aide training program OR STNA state tested nurse aide OR CNA Certified Nurse Aide OR nursing program with clinical nursing course
• Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility preferred

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care including comfort, vital signs, personal care and hygiene, and assist with mobility.
• Act as liaison between patient and nurse to report changes or concerns.
• Provide high-quality customer service to patients, families, visitors and staff.
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the EHR.
• Participate in hand-off/report of patient and department needs on arrival and departure.
• Perform delegated tasks once competency is validated.
• Mobilize patients using safe transfer techniques and encourage independence.
• Individualize care based on patient interests and abilities.
