Qualifications

• Citizenship: United States Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed only if no qualified citizens are available per VA Policy).
• MD or equivalent from an approved school.
• Current full and unrestricted medical/surgical license in a US state/territory/DC.
• Residency in VA-approved core specialty leading to board eligibility or approved alternative path.
• Board certification preferred; experience in TEE and cardiac anesthesia preferred.
• English proficiency (spoken and written).
• Physical requirements: various heavy-duty activities listed.

Responsibilities

• Administer anesthesia care alone or supervise residents/CRNAs.
• Examine patient before/after anesthesia, write orders, confirm readiness, manage anesthesia, and follow post-anesthesia care.
