Edward Elmhurst Health is seeking an RN for the Cardiac Ambulatory Unit at GBH Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview. This full-time role runs 36 hours across three 12-hour shifts (8a–8p) with no weekends and no on-call.

Requirements include an IL RN license, an Associate’s degree in Nursing (Bachelor’s preferred), and BLS; ACLS within 6 months. 2+ years telemetry/ED/CCU/ICU experience is preferred. Duties cover pre/post-procedure care, patient education, and post-procedure monitoring.

Qualifications

• Preferred: 2+ years telemetry/ED/CCU/ICU experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-procedure patient assessments including med history and baseline vitals.
• Prepare patients for cardiac and vascular procedures: IV placement, lab checks, checklist completion, site prep.
• Provide patient/family education on procedures, recovery, and post-procedure care.
• Verify informed consent, allergies, NPO status, and pre-procedure testing.
• Coordinate with physicians, cath lab staff, and anesthesia to ensure readiness and timely transport.
• Assist with procedure room tasks (e.g., Electrical Cardioversion, TEE, ILR implants/explants).
• Monitor post-procedure recovery: cardiac monitoring, vitals, access site assessments.
• Manage vascular access sites and hemostasis, monitor for complications.
• Administer medications including sedation recovery meds, analgesics, IV fluids as ordered.
• Document assessments, meds, education, and recovery progress in EMR.
• Communicate status updates to physicians and team.
• Provide discharge education and activity restrictions; arrange follow-up.
• Ensure discharge criteria are met before transfer.
