Job summary

The University of Washington Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery, invites applications for a full-time Cardiac Acute Care Service NP or PA at UW Medical Center Montlake. Teaching Associate appointment starts Winter 2027, with 12-month service and prorated time off.

The role provides independent and collaborative patient management for cardiac surgical patients from transfer from ICU to discharge, joining a team of ten APPs and surgeons.

Qualifications

• Current and valid WA State Registered Nurse Licensure for ARNP or Physician Assistant licensure for PA-C.
• Graduate Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or accredited Physician Assistant Program.
• Nationally certified ARNP/PA and eligible for DEA.
• ACLS Certification and ability to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent and collaborative patient management of cardiac surgical patients after ICU transfer through discharge.
• Work on a dedicated cardiothoracic inter-professional team with APPs and surgeons.
• Perform minor bedside procedures and wound management as needed.
• Participate in education of nursing staff and surgical residents.
• Engage in quality and process improvement activities for the division.
