Job summary

Marshall Community Credit Union in Michigan seeks a Card Operations Specialist to join our cooperative, collaborative team. The position is analytical and requires independent problem solving while handling diverse card services tasks.

You will oversee settlements, reconciliations, chargebacks, fraud tracking, card inventory, and system improvements, working with processors, networks, and staff to keep card services smooth for members.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
  • Three years of financial institution experience in card services or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with legacy PSCU/Velera platforms strongly preferred; experience with NE debit and Optis credit processing environments preferred.
  • Visa Dispute Resolution Certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Reg E, NACHA, BSA, Reg CC, and TISA.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills, with sound judgment and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, delivered in a positive and diplomatic manner.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and card processing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as subject matter expert on settlement processing, reconciliations, adjustments, chargebacks, and fraud tracking.
  • Process and monitor merchant and fraud chargebacks, disputes, provisional credits, and representments in line with card network and regulatory requirements.
  • Handle daily and monthly settlement, balancing, and reconciliation activities, including tracking down and resolving discrepancies.
  • Monitor Visa CAMS alerts and other fraud tracking activities, including following up with members.
  • Research and resolving card-related issues for cardholders, staff, processors, and vendors across debit, credit, and ATM services.
  • Processing card requests and maintenance: new and replacement cards, limit increases, rate adjustments, balance transfers, and account updates.
  • Managing card inventory, including ordering, tracking, audits, and secure disposal.
  • Maintaining communication and tickets with processors, card networks, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Participating in system testing, upgrades, and conversions related to card services.
  • Developing and maintaining procedures, training materials, and operational documentation.
  • Generating operational reports and providing backup support across Card Services as needed.

Marshall Community Credit Union (MCCU) is seeking a cooperative individual who enjoys working in a supportive and collaborative environment to serve as a Card Operations Specialist. This person should be analytical and good at figuring things out independently, should enjoy a variety-filled workplace handling spontaneous issues as they arise.

The Card Operations Specialist supports every aspect of MCCU's card services programs. This position is the go-to for settlements, reconciliations, adjustments, chargebacks, fraud tracking, ATM operations, and card inventory, helping keep our card services running smoothly for members and staff alike. They also have a hand in processor and network activities, system implementations, testing, and process improvements as we continue refining how we do things.

A typical week might include:
