Job summary

AIG in Jersey City seeks a Sustainability Manager to lead the company’s greenhouse gas inventory, carbon accounting program, and readiness for external reporting. You will ensure data accuracy, governance, and alignment with regulatory expectations while translating technical topics into clear business insights.

This role partners across the enterprise to advance decarbonization, develop dashboards and KPIs, manage external ESG data providers, and support the climate strategy and net-zero

Qualifications

• Five+ years of corporate sustainability experience.
• Strong knowledge of GHG accounting, methodologies and reporting requirements.
• Familiarity with ISSB, GHGP, SBTi, RE100 frameworks.
• Demonstrated project management skills with multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to simplify complex topics.
• Experience with ESG data providers and carbon accounting software.
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint and Teams.
• Watershed and Workiva experience strongly preferred.
• Experience in insurance or financial services a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the annual operations GHG emissions inventory, including methodology, boundaries, assumptions and emissions factors, with a transparent Inventory Management Plan for external reporting.
• Manage the carbon accounting platform vendor, including system performance and data quality.
• Partner with Operations and Sustainability teams to establish roles, timelines, and documentation standards.
• Collect, verify and report data with providers and third-party vendors for timely reporting.
• Review inventory results for data quality and year-over-year changes.
• Support GHG reporting controls, audit evidence and external assurance.
• Monitor evolving GHG accounting standards and improve governance of carbon accounting processes.
• Build cross-functional partnerships to align sustainability priorities with business objectives.
• Develop dashboards and scorecards to track performance and inform decisions.
• Evaluate program effectiveness against goals and benchmarks.
• Provide SME support to Sustainability Working Groups and teams.
• Translate strategy into business-relevant actions and messages.
• Develop outreach, events and engagement to raise the Sustainability Office’s visibility.
