Job summary

University of Michigan Health-Sparrow seeks a CT Radiology Technologist to participate in procedures and monitor CT scanner use. You will work closely with radiologists, prepare patients, and ensure safe, accurate imaging with proper contrast when required.

Required ARRT registration, CT certification, and a minimum of five years radiologic or CT experience, plus an associate degree in Radiologic Technology. On-site Carson City, MI position with rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• ARRT required or registry eligible.
• Registration by the ARRT.
• Must have CT certification registry in addition to basic knowledge.
• Minimum five years radiologic or CT experience preferred.
• Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and general computer skills.
• Good communication, writing, math and reasoning abilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain imaging equipment and ensure proper operation.
• Set up and adjust equipment per exam requirements.
• Explain procedures to patients and prepare them for exams.
• Assist in administering contrast agents to enhance imaging.
• Review charts with radiologist to ensure accurate results.
• Ensure safety, train department personnel, and monitor quality.
• Be available for on-call and rotate shifts as needed.
• Perform general office duties and compile reports as required.
• Attend safety trainings and adhere to exposure control plans.

Participates in technical duties directly involved with the CT scanner including developing, initiating and monitoring procedures for the effective utilization of this unit.

Positions Location: Carson City, MI

Essential Duties

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

• Maintains equipment for proper imaging
• Sets up and adjusts equipment dependent on the exam
• Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements. Explains and prepares the patient for the exam requested.
• Assists in the administration and administers various chemical substances to render specific organs or systems more opaque
• Reviews patient charts and requests with the radiologist to ensure the proper examination and diagnostic results are obtained
• Quality controls all images, maintains inventory, and adheres to safety regulations. Participates in training of department personnel, including students
• Must be available for on-call status, as needed, after normal operating hours and must work all shifts and rotate through the radiology department as needed
• Performs general office duties and compiles reports as needed
• Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, and specific job-related hazards
• Follows the hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens

Job Requirements

• ARRT Required
• Registration (or registry eligible) by the A.A.R.T.
• Must have additional (or working towards) certification registry in CT and basic knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and computer experience
• Minimum of five years of radiologic experience or previous CT experience preferred
• Associate degree in Radiologic Technology
• List skills and abilities necessary to perform the job (e.g. strong communication skills, detailed computer knowledge, etc.)
• Job requires full range of physical mobility and stamina
• Must have good communication, writing, math, reasoning, and computer skills
• Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job
