Job summary

Eastern Radiologists, Inc. seeks a CT Technologist to perform CT scans, process images, and manage patient care in the CT department under indirect supervision. Responsibilities include patient preparation, IV access, contrast handling, image processing, and documentation.

You will ensure image quality, comply with OSHA and ACR guidelines, and communicate with referring physicians while maintaining compassion for patients in a fast-paced radiology setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• No post graduate experience required.
• ARRT registration or eligibility; BLS/CPR certification required; continuing education credits.
• CT sub-specialty registration preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform CT scans and prepare patients, obtain consent, and process images.
• Verify orders, store images in PACS, and send reports as needed.
• Restock procedure rooms, disinfect according to OSHA guidelines, and update records.
• Answer questions from patients and staff (physicians, scheduling).
• Transport patients as needed and assist in equipment setup and cleanup.

Job description

Job Summary:

Under indirect supervision performs all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving of cat scan images. Responsible for the care of the patient while in the cat scan department.

Days/Hours: Monday - Friday 10:00am - 6:00pm with Saturday rotation of hours 9:00am - 1:00pm

Major Job Functions:

• Performs CT scans on patients which includes the following: getting the patient undressed and ready for procedure, goes over consent form with patient, explains the procedure to them, gives patient water or any other agent needed for the test, fills the injector, starts IV on patient, scans patient and processes the films, and helps patient to get dressed after procedure is complete.
• Practice cost containment measure in all aspects.
• Takes IV out and gives patient post test instructions.
• Checks the patient’s images and lets the patient go. Faxes reports to referring doctor when necessary.
• Verifies or check outs films/CDs on computer. This includes start, end, remove, modify, and add information on computer.
• Adds contrast & creatinine information in Medinformatix.
• Restock procedure rooms and order supplies if needed.
• Disinfect rooms according to OSHA guidelines.
• Update ACR accreditation.
• Follows OSHA Standards for Blood Bourne Pathogens.
• Answers questions on phone from patients, doctor’s offices, radiologists, and scheduling department.
• Do patient lab work (creatinine) as needed.
• Transport all patients from Myelogram area to CT and then back when assistant is not present.
• Check and verify orders.
• Make sure all images are stored in PACS.
• Validates patients on PACS.
• Washes linen.
• Burns CDs.
• Scans appropriate paperwork into PACS.
• Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested.

Specifications:

• Education: Graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology.
• Experience: No post graduate experience required.
• Certification/License/Registration: Registered or Registry eligible through the ARRT. Sub-specialty registration in CT preferred. BLS/CPR certification required. Maintains Continuing Education Credits required.
• Position Titles and Number Supervised: None.
• Special Training/Skills: Must be able to remain calm in stressful situations. Must display courtesy and empathy toward patients, co-workers, and physicians. Must be able to make sound judgments and execute the appropriate actions based on the needs of patients and knowledge of departmental policies and procedures. Must have good communication skills and be discrete with confidential information.
• Physical Demands: Must be able to move about freely. Must be able to assist in the lifting of physically compromised patients. Must possess sufficient visual and auditory acuity to perform task remotely located to the patient.
• Working Conditions: Works in a medical facility. Subject to electrical, chemical, and radiant energy hazards. Exposure to infectious disease and lifting hazards. Sits, stands, and walks intermittently throughout the day. Must stoop and bend during job performance. Must lift patients and supplies.
