Job summary

Hylant is seeking a Captive Reinsurance Accountant to support evaluation and management of reinsurance contracts, claims, and reinsurer relationships. The role ensures compliance with company policies, accurate claim settlements, and effective collaboration with stakeholders.

You will generate insightful reinsurance reports, perform financial accounting of premiums, claims, and reserves, and advise internal partners on statutory and reinsurance accounting matters. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in reinsurance accounting or related financial area.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel, Outlook and Teams.
• Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical, financial accounting of premium, claim and reserves.
• Review and analyze reinsurance contracts for policy adherence.
• Manage processing and settlement of reinsurance claims.
• Generate reinsurance reports and conduct analysis for decision-making.
• Consult internal stakeholders on Statutory and Reinsurance Accounting expertise.
• Develop and maintain relationships with reinsurers.
• Drive process improvement and standardization; identify inefficiencies.
• Join training sessions to stay current on systems and processes.
• Keep SOPs and training guides up to date with Captive Account Executives.
• Perform other duties and special projects as requested.
