Job summary

Washington State Senate is seeking temporary Senate Security Team Members for the 2027 Legislative Session in Olympia, WA. Roles involve ensuring safety for members, staff, and visitors, with training provided at start of assignment.

Positions run from late December 2026 through roughly April 2027, with potential extension for additional sessions. Employees work about forty hours per week across various shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent required.
• Background check will be conducted.
• Must be able to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather; climb stairs in emergencies.
• CPR/AED certification may be required; training provided if needed.
• Prior security, military or law enforcement experience is desired but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide security presence at access points, posts, and patrols; monitor and control access to facilities and parking areas.
• Observe, report, and respond to security issues; provide first aid, CPR, and AED as trained.
• Work within an organized structure with reporting lines to supervisors and management; comply with Senate Rules and policies.
• Assist senators, staff, and visitors; may perform other related duties as required.
