The National MS Society is seeking an AVP, Government Affairs to lead federal advocacy strategies, engage policymakers, and coordinate with policy leadership to advance MS priorities. The role focuses on Capitol Hill engagement, relationship management, and cross-functional advocacy execution.

Remote-friendly location, with options for in-person collaboration as needed. Experience in national advocacy, policy translation, and coalition building is essential for success in this leadership role.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of experience in federal government affairs, lobbying, congressional relations, or public policy advocacy.
• Strong understanding of federal legislative and regulatory processes.
• Demonstrated success engaging Congress, congressional staff, and federal agencies.
• Experience building coalitions and managing stakeholder relationships.
• Ability to translate complex policy issues into effective advocacy strategies and communications.

Responsibilities

• Lead federal advocacy strategy and execution on Capitol Hill.
• Build and maintain relationships with Members of Congress and staff.
• Represent the organization at conferences and policy forums.
• Coordinate federal-state alignment and cross-functional advocacy.
• Develop advocacy materials, talking points, and briefing materials.
• Manage Federal Advocacy Team and budget.
