Job summary

Capital Transit Maintenance in Juneau is seeking a Long-Term Temporary Capital Transit Service Technician II to perform vehicle and facility maintenance, washing, and pre-trip inspections on buses and support vehicles, as well as keeping facilities clean.

You will work 10-hour shifts Wednesday–Saturday at the Bus Barn Maintenance Facility, with outdoor duties in variable Alaska weather and opportunities to gain CDL endorsements and mechanical experience.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude and hands-on work in an industrial environment.
• Interest in Alaska CDL endorsements and mechanical experience is preferred.
• Ability to perform heavy lifting and work outdoors in inclement weather.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and clean vehicles and facility equipment, including buses and shelters.
• Wash, fuel, and conduct pre-trip inspections on Capital Transit’s buses and support vehicles.
• Clean facilities and manage trash; work under supervision and adhere to schedules.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

We are seeking candidates with a mechanical aptitude that enjoy hands-on work in an industrial environment and in the field operating, cleaning, and maintaining the various types of vehicles and equipment Capital Transit uses to provide exceptional and reliable service to the community. We are particularly interested in candidates that are interested in furthering their Alaska CDL endorsements and mechanical experience.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION

This position typically works 10-hour shifts, Wednesday - Saturday, 6:30am – 5:00pm at the Capital Transit Bus Barn Maintenance Facility in the Valley. The actual shift may vary.

Typical Responsibilities

This position will be primarily responsible for vehicle and facility maintenance and cleanliness, including bus stops and shelters. Duties will include washing, fueling, and performing pre-trip inspections on Capital Transit’s buses and support vehicles, facility cleaning and trash removal. Specific assignments are given by the Transit Superintendent and work is checked for completeness and adherence to schedules. This position requires heavy lifting, and physical endurance. You will be frequently working outdoors in inclement weather conditions.
