Hood Container Corporation seeks a Capital Projects Manager to lead planning, execution, and startup of strategic capital investments across our corrugated manufacturing operations. This role will drive equipment installations, facility expansions, automation, and productivity initiatives with a focus on safe, on-time, and on-budget delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 7+ years of engineering, project management, or manufacturing leadership experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale capital projects in manufacturing.
• Strong budgeting, cost control, construction management, and equipment procurement knowledge.
• Experience with AutoCAD, project management software, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to travel up to 40%.

Hood Container Corporation seeks a Capital Projects Manager to lead the planning, execution, and implementation of strategic capital investments across our corrugated manufacturing operations. This role will be responsible for managing projects from concept through startup, including equipment installations, facility expansions, automation initiatives, infrastructure improvements, and productivity enhancement projects.

The ideal candidate will combine strong engineering and project management expertise with hands-on manufacturing experience to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget while minimizing operational disruption.

How You Will Contribute

• Develop long-term capital improvement plans aligned with business objectives.
• Lead the full lifecycle of capital projects from scope development and budgeting through commissioning and startup.
• Manage multiple concurrent projects across corrugated box plants, sheet plants, and support facilities.
• Prepare capital appropriation requests, cost justifications, and ROI analyses.
• Coordinate engineering firms, contractors, equipment suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
• Oversee equipment installation projects including corrugators, flexo folder gluers, rotary die cutters, folder gluers, material handling systems, robotics, and warehouse automation.
• Drive project execution while maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, risks, and resource requirements.
• Support operational excellence initiatives through process improvements and automation opportunities.
• Partner with plant leadership to ensure successful project startup, training, and sustainability of results.
• Develop and communicate project status updates to executive leadership.

What It Takes

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
• 7+ years of engineering, project management, or manufacturing leadership experience.
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale capital projects in manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, cost control, construction management, and equipment procurement.
• Experience with AutoCAD, project management software, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to travel up to 40%.

Preferred Qualifications

• Corrugated packaging, paper, converting, or industrial manufacturing experience.
• PMP certification.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
• Experience with facility expansions, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
