Job summary

National Veterinary Associates is seeking a highly accomplished Construction Manager to lead the delivery of complex capital projects supporting our specialty and emergency veterinary hospital portfolio across the United States and Canada. This strategic role manages large-scale projects, frequently exceeding $20 million, with a focus on cost control, schedule certainty, and operational readiness.

Qualifications

• 6+ years managing complex veterinary specialty or multi-unit projects.
• Experience delivering ground-up construction, major renovations, or facility expansions over $20M.
• Knowledge of all project lifecycle phases incl. estimating and permitting.
• Experience working with real estate teams and tenant improvements.
• Strong financial acumen with budgets, contingencies, and change orders.
• Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop scopes, budgets, cash flow forecasts, and schedules for projects >$20M.
• Lead budgeting, permitting, construction, and occupancy from concept to closeout.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams of architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and vendors.
• Lead GC bid evaluations, contract negotiations and awards.
• Oversee construction in occupied hospitals; minimize disruption and ensure safety.
• Coordinate with Real Estate and Legal on leasehold improvements and regulatory compliance.
• Drive process improvements to standardize design, delivery and cost efficiency.
• Analyze project needs with leadership for renovations, additions or new facilities.
