Job summary

Trueline in Birmingham, AL, seeks a Sr. Project Engineer, Capital Projects or Project Engineering Manager to lead capital projects and modernization in a heavy industrial setting.

You will manage scopes, budgets, timelines, and ROI models for projects in the $2M–$10M range, mentor junior engineers, and ensure equipment installation meets harsh industrial demands while advancing continuous improvement across engineering and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of engineering experience in heavy manufacturing environments.
• Experience leading capital projects from concept through installation.
• Ability to develop ROI/payback models for major equipment investments.
• Prior leadership, mentoring, or development of engineers.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing process improvement and project management.

Responsibilities

• Lead capital engineering projects from concept through installation, commissioning, and startup.
• Manage equipment upgrades and process changes within an existing footprint.
• Evaluate automation and process improvements to boost safety, reliability, and throughput.
• Build scopes, budgets, timelines, and ROI models for capital investments.
• Partner with operations, maintenance, production, and leadership to execute projects.
• Oversee equipment layouts, specifications, and installation plans.
• Mentor project engineers and other technical staff.
• Support continuous improvement across engineering and operations.
