Job summary

The City of El Paso is seeking an experienced construction inspector to perform on‑site technical inspections of capital projects managed by the Engineering Department. You will verify compliance with plans, codes, and laws, focusing on foundations, framing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building systems.

You will prepare detailed inspection reports, present findings to management or elected officials, and supervise assigned personnel, including scheduling, training, and performance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED (or higher) with building trades experience.
• Two years journey, master, or supervisory level in building trades.
• Knowledge of codes, ordinances, and inspection standards.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site technical inspections of municipal construction projects.
• Prepare detailed written and oral reports of inspection results.
• Supervise assigned staff, schedule work, and ensure safety and conduct standards.
• Coordinate with engineering and other experts as needed.
