Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Capital Projects Lead Cost Analyst in the Houston area. The role focuses on monitoring, analyzing, and reporting project cost performance across engineering, procurement, and construction scopes for capital infrastructure projects.

The position requires deep experience in project controls, budgeting, forecasting, and cost reporting, with regular collaboration with project teams and clients. Some travel to client offices may be required.

Qualifications

• Familiarity with the practical application of project controls.
• 10+ years of project experience.
• Post-secondary graduate.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with project teams, clients and vendors.
• Proficient in MS Excel and Power BI; SAP experience.

Responsibilities

• Implement project controls tools and methodology.
• Support month end closing and phase gate processes, coordination, productions, management, reporting and analysis of cost information.
• Support establishment of project original and approved budgets.
• Work with stakeholders to establish cost baselines.
• Develop project forecasts using estimates, schedules, POs, and stakeholder inputs.
• Monitor and analyze actual costs, explain variances, document explanations.
• Assemble documentation for project teams and clients.
• Analyze data and build reports to support monitoring and decisions.
• Interface regularly with project management to support cost performance.
• Travel to client offices for coordination meetings as needed.
• Experience with accrual-based project execution.
