Job summary

The AES Corporation is seeking a Project Cost Control Analyst in Salt Lake City to support financial execution of capital projects. You will ensure budgets are tracked, variances analyzed, and controls maintained using SAP Investment Management and SAP Funds Management.

You will collaborate with project managers, developers, and finance leadership to deliver cost transparency, report on CapEx/OpEx, and drive continuous improvement of cost control processes and tools including Power BI dashboards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related field.
• 2–4 years of FP&A, Cost Control, or Business Intelligence experience.
• Proficiency in SAP Investments Management and SAP Funds Management modules.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Partner with project managers to publish and maintain project budgets and forecasts.
• Monitor and report on CapEx and OpEx against approved budgets.
• Perform monthly variance analysis and provide insights on cost drivers and trends.
• Support budget reallocation, budget increases, and contingency drawdown requests with internal controls.
• Maintain and reconcile project data in SAP CBS/WBS.
• Assist in monthly and quarterly close processes, including accruals and reporting.
• Collaborate with Accounting & AP to improve data accuracy and reporting processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of cost control processes and tools, including Power BI dashboards and SAP enhancements.
