Job summary

Graham Packaging Company is seeking a Capital Project Engineer to lead scoping and execution of new manufacturing projects, selecting the best capital equipment to win new business and improve equipment standards and plant layouts.

Requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or related field and 7+ years in manufacturing operations; CAD experience with AutoCAD; travel about 75% of the time; strong problem solving and communication skills.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or engineering technology; 7+ years in a manufacturing operations environment.
Capital project management experience.
CAD experience with manufacturing layouts (AutoCAD preferred).
Good understanding of electrical & mechanical systems and utilities.
Experience with plastics manufacturing, preferably the design of plastic bottle handling line and equipment.
Prior experience developing project scopes and cost estimates.
Demonstrated ability to influence and engage teams across multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

Works with engineering and commercial teams to define project scopes and create cost estimates for manufacturing equipment.
Execute and supervise assigned projects, including contractors, to maintain schedule and cost.
Create and update plant layouts as part of equipment estimates development.
Perform utility and infrastructure analysis to determine supporting equipment needs.
Establish and improve equipment standards to meet performance expectations.
Identify opportunities for system/process/tool improvements.
Oversee maintenance of plant layouts and infrastructure databases.
