Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America is seeking a capital projects engineer to provide technical and project management expertise within a mill environment. You will oversee capital projects from inception to implementation, ranging from $10,000 to $5,000,000.

Responsibilities include feasibility studies for AFE development, cost planning, scheduling, contractor coordination, startup, and safety, with interfaces to corporate engineering, suppliers, and outside consultants.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in mechanical (preferred), electrical, civil or paper engineering
  • Minimum of three years' experience in pulp and paper or related industry
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Job description

Responsibilities

Provides technical and project management expertise for capital project execution in a mill environment. Executes capital projects in the range of $10,000 to $5,000,000 from inception to implementation. Completes feasibility studies in support of AFE development. Administrative responsibilities include project cost controls, planning and scheduling, contractor management, check-out and start-up management, and safety. Interfaces with corporate engineering and planning, outside consultants, equipment manufacturers and material suppliers. Ensures internal customer satisfaction through the application of quality standards and practices. Works with project sponsors to justify the authorization and expenditure of capital funds.

Qualifications

B.S. Degree in mechanical (preferred), electrical, civil or paper engineering with a minimum of three years' experience in pulp and paper or related industry. A working knowledge of process improvement, capital execution and project management methods is preferred. Must be able to form and lead teams or contribute to a team environment. The successful candidate must possess computer skills, be highly organized, able to execute assignments and communicate effectively. Must be willing and able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as needed.
