Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America seeks an engineer to apply engineering principles to design and implement assigned projects while maintaining scope, schedule, and cost. The role requires a B.S. in a relevant field and related experience.

Responsibilities include developing engineering, procurement, and construction strategies, designing and implementing approved projects, coordinating commissioning, and supporting operations with technical insight to solve routine problems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or other 4-year technical degree and related experience.
  • Prior work experience in pulp & paper industry preferred, but not essential.
  • Adequate knowledge of engineering principles and procedures.

  • Prepare scope and cost estimate for assigned projects.
  • Maintains compliance with ISO Quality System responsibilities.
  • Develop an engineering, procurement and construction strategy for each project.
  • Design and implement approved projects.
  • Monitor and control project scope, schedule and cost.
  • Manage project construction.
  • Coordinate project commissioning and start-up.
  • Communicate project status to operations and maintenance.
  • Provide technical assistance to operations and maintenance to identify and solve routine problems.
