Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America is seeking an engineer to apply engineering principles to design and implement assigned projects. The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering and have knowledge of engineering principles.

The position involves preparing project scopes, maintaining ISO compliance, managing project construction, and providing technical assistance. Experience in the pulp & paper industry is advantageous but not essential.

General Summary

Apply engineering principles and procedures to the design and implementation of assigned engineering projects.

Prerequisites
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or other 4-year technical degree and related experience.
  • Prior work experience in pulp & paper industry preferred, but not essential.
  • Adequate knowledge of engineering principles and procedures.
The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
  • Prepare scope and cost estimate for assigned projects.
  • Maintains compliance with ISO Quality System responsibilities.
  • Develop an engineering, procurement and construction strategy for each project.
  • Design and implement approved projects.
  • Monitor and control project scope, schedule and cost.
  • Manage project construction.
  • Coordinate project commissioning and start-up.
  • Communicate project status to operations and maintenance.
  • Provide technical assistance to operations and maintenance to identify and solve routine problems.
