Job summary

The City of Cupertino seeks a Public Works Project Manager to lead capital improvement projects that enhance city facilities, parks, streets, and public spaces. You will work with residents, consultants, and city staff to guide projects from concept through construction.

The ideal candidate collaborates across departments, manages budgets and schedules, and communicates project status to diverse stakeholders. A California driver’s license is required, with PE/Architecture licensure desirable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or related field.
• Three years of progressively responsible professional experience involving design, construction, or delivery of public infrastructure projects, including at least two years of project management responsibility.
• Valid California Driver’s License at the time of appointment; licensure/desirable but not required.
• Experience in public works Capital Improvement Projects, community engagement, consultant procurement, and design/construction delivery.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and deliver capital improvement projects from initiation through construction and closeout.
• Develop scopes, schedules, budgets, and implementation strategies; monitor progress and ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Procure, negotiate, and manage professional service agreements; supervise consultants and contractors.
• Lead public outreach, present to Council/committees, and engage residents and stakeholders.
• Prepare staff reports, documents, and contract administration across departments.
