Introduction to the Job:

Our headquarters are in Veldhoven, the Netherlands, with 18 office locations across the United States, including Wilton, CT, Chandler, AZ, and San Jose, CA. This position is based in Wilton, CT.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of 40+ responsible for tooling and fixture design, procurement, forecasting, engineering, installation, and maintenance.
• Manage tooling to meet safety, quality, availability, delivery, and cost objectives.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to define and meet tooling requirements safely.
• Oversee space and capital spending, consolidating forecasts and layouts with NPI, Process Development, and Operations.
• Participate in equipment selection, specify facilities & IT requirements, and coordinate with relevant teams for installation support.
• Lead equipment monitoring, data collection, and automation initiatives.
• Define maintenance schedules, procedures, and manage spare parts inventory to ensure reliability.
• Manage troubleshooting, escalation, and continuous improvement of equipment performance.
• Design organizational structure and work processes for operational effectiveness.
• Ensure a cost-effective, safe, and reliable environment for high-quality optics and ceramic fabrication.

Education & Experience:

• Master’s in physical sciences or engineering + 8-10 years, or Bachelor’s + 10-12 years, or 15+ years in high-tech manufacturing.
• 5+ years of management experience, preferably leading leaders.

Skills:

• Experience with tooling design and review methodologies.
• Ability to interpret mechanical and facility drawings using CAD software.
• Stakeholder management with construction and facilities teams.
• Proven leadership in employee development and performance management.
• Strong LEAN manufacturing and continuous improvement background.
• Proficiency with MS Outlook 365, SAP or similar ERP, and familiarity with ISO9001 and ISO14001 standards.

Other Information:

• Physical requirements include sitting, walking, lifting up to 35 pounds, and working in clean room environments with proper PPE.
• May involve travel and working around lasers, chemicals, and mechanical equipment.
• Work environment includes moderate to high noise levels and temperature variations.
