Job summary

The Office of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Inspector General in New York City seeks a Capital Construction Oversight Specialist to help oversee the multibillion-dollar capital program, review contracts, procurement, budgeting, and construction.

The role conducts investigations, interviews staff and contractors, analyzes records, drafts memoranda and reports, and testifies in hearings when required. Hybrid telework is available per policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in fields such as construction management, engineering, architecture, business, public administration, accounting with 3+ years of related experience.
• Or a trade license with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Analytical, critical thinking, impartial judgment, and investigative aptitude.
• Experience interviewing field personnel and management.
• Ability to write professionally.

Responsibilities

• Assists with reviews of MTA capital construction contracts, processes, procurement, billings, and management to identify fraud and abuse.
• Identifies risk, mismanagement, and safety concerns and formulates recommendations.
• Work with a team on planning, conducting, and reporting investigations and reviews.
• Interviews agency personnel, vendors, and contractors.
• Analyses contracts, billings, project management plans, inspection records, payroll and other records.
