Job summary

Commonwealth of Massachusetts seeks a Court Interpreter to provide interpretation and translation services for LEP individuals across court events and programs. The role includes consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, sight translation, and remote proceedings with travel to various court divisions.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related experience; interpreter certification is preferred and may be completed within three years of appointment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three (3) years of related work experience.
• Interpreter Certification Preferred. Achieving Interpreter Certification within three (3) years of appointment is required for candidates appointed without validation of prior certification.
• Must have a valid Massachusetts Driver's License or access to reliable transportation.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provides interpretation and translation services for LEP individuals in court events, programs, and services.
• Performs consecutive and simultaneous interpretation, sight translation, and translation in person or remotely.
• Submits monthly service records of court events not entered into MassCourts.
• Travels for service in various court divisions.
• May serve on the OLA Translation Committee.
• Performs other duties as required.
