Job summary

The Botanist, part of Canopy USA, LLC, is seeking a Cannabis Horticulture Technician in Sterling, MA. The role blends hands-on plant care with precise recordkeeping and teamwork to keep cultivation operations thriving.

Responsibilities include feeding and caring for plants, pruning, pest/disease scouting, and supporting harvest workflows. You will document nutrient recipes and logs, assist with inventory audits, and maintain a clean, compliant facility while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (required).
• 1+ year of experience in horticulture, botany, or related field (required).
• Working knowledge of basic math, computers, and agricultural principles (required).
• Meticulous attention to detail, strong time management, reliability, honesty, and confidentiality.
• Calm under pressure; deadline-driven; positive attitude with exceptional focus.
• Clear written and verbal communication with teammates and leaders.
• Self-starter who collaborates well and completes assignments within established routines and best practices.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Ability to pass state mandated background check(s).

Responsibilities

• Execute daily feeding and care plans set by Cultivation leadership.
• Prune and repot to maintain plant uniformity and vigor.
• Scout for pests, disease, and nutrient issues; report findings promptly.
• Support harvest and post-harvest workflows - harvesting, drying, curing, and trimming as needed.
• Document nutrient recipes, equipment upkeep, and crop logs with accuracy.
• Report plant movements and updates to inventory/fulfillment to maintain precise records.
• Assist with inventory audits and reconciliation of supplies, plants, products, equipment, and tracked items.
• Clean and maintain cultivation tools and equipment: tables, reflectors, containers, mixing and application tools, ventilation equipment, and more.
• Calibrate, operate, clean, and store pH, EC, and PPM meters properly.
• Handle daily housekeeping - sweeping, spot mopping, sanitizing surfaces, organizing stock, and maintaining tidy workspaces.
• Wet-clean for room flips and dry-clean areas as needed; dispose of waste properly each day.

A day in the life

Keeping the facility pristine

• Clean and maintain cultivation tools and equipment: tables, reflectors, containers, mixing and application tools, ventilation equipment, and more.
• Calibrate, operate, clean, and store pH, EC, and PPM meters properly.
• Handle daily housekeeping - sweeping, spot mopping, sanitizing surfaces, organizing stock, and maintaining tidy workspaces.
• Wet-clean for room flips and dry-clean areas as needed; dispose of waste properly each day.

Compliance and SOP excellence

• Operate safely within all health and safety standards for equipment, fertigation, environmental controls, and water systems.
• Complete all required cultivation SOP training and follow leadership direction.
• Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Schedule
Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm ET, with flexibility for mandatory overtime as required to meet business needs.
