Job summary

The United Green, a cannabis company in Detroit, is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and close processes. This hands-on role requires leadership of 1–2 staff and strong regulatory expertise to ensure accuracy and compliance in a high-volume environment.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years of accounting/finance experience, knowledge of QuickBooks, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in accounting/finance with cannabis or high-volume manufacturing preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, controls, and regulatory reporting.
• Experience leading 1–2 staff and coordinating close processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily bookkeeping and accounting operations, including journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
• Oversee financial reporting for accuracy and compliance with regulations.
• Supervise and mentor 1–2 accounting staff.
• Ensure timely month-end and year-end close processes.
• Maintain and optimize QuickBooks accounting system.
• Monitor cash flow, budgets, and forecasts to support decisions.
• Develop internal controls to safeguard assets and records.
