Job summary

Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Inc. seeks a Canine Reproduction & Breeding Support role to advance breeding, cryogenic, and genetic initiatives. You will perform reproductive procedures, collect samples for genetic testing, and help manage the DNA biobank and cryobank operations.

The position involves maintaining records, quality control, and collaboration with internal teams and external partners to support mission-driven breeding programs and canine health research.

Qualifications

• Undergrad degree in Animal Science or related field, or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Minimum 2 years in animal care, veterinary or genetics.
• Experience with canine reproductive procedures preferred.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Perform canine reproductive procedures to support conception rates and litter outcomes.
• Analyze semen quality parameters (motility, morphology, concentration, viability).
• Maintain breeding and reproductive records.
• Provide weekend breeding and reproductive support as needed.
• Safely handle and restrain dogs following welfare protocols.
• Support operation of frozen semen cryobank (collection, processing, cryopreservation, evaluation).
• Monitor cryogenic storage tanks and LN2 levels daily/weekly.
• Maintain DNA Biobank records and specimen tracking.
• Assist with breeder candidate screening and sample collection.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams on genetics and reproductive health initiatives.
• Maintain SOPs for reproductive, cryogenic, and laboratory processes.
