Job summary

Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Inc. in Patterson, NY, seeks a Canine Reproduction & Cryogenics Technician to support breeding, genetics, and biobank operations.

You will perform reproductive procedures, monitor cryogenic storage, collect samples, and maintain accurate records within a collaborative, mission-driven team. This role requires an undergraduate degree in Animal Science or related field, a valid driver's license, and at least two years in animal care or reproduction.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Animal Science or related field or equivalent education/experience.
• Valid driver's license.
• Minimum of two years' experience in animal care, reproduction, or genetics.
• Experience with canine reproductive procedures and lab work preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous record-keeping.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Comfort handling dogs up to 80 pounds; ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) preferred.
• Knowledge of canine reproductive practices and biobanking is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Perform canine reproductive procedures to support conception and litter outcomes.
• Analyze semen quality parameters and maintain breeding records.
• Provide occasional weekend breeding and reproductive support as needed.
• Support cryogenic storage operations and biobank management.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and manage inventory within budget.
• Develop and update SOPs for reproductive, cryogenic, and laboratory processes.
• Assist with health survey initiatives and cross-training of staff.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners on genetics projects.
