Summary of Job Duties:

The Cancer Registrar is a highly trained data management expert responsible for managing, analyzing, and interpreting clinical cancer information for education, research, and outcome measurement. CTRs identify reportable cancer cases, code each case accurately within 6 months, and ensure complete data collection adhering to standards of ACOS and CoC. They serve as a bridge between clinicians and statisticians, supporting hospital planning, treatment, research, and patient outcome monitoring.

Qualifications:
  • Current Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) credential from NCRA
  • Associate's Degree in Health Information Management or related field plus 2 years of Cancer Registry Abstracting experience
  • Knowledge of cancer registry principles, medical records policies, coding systems (ICD-O, AJCC), medical terminology, and database management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Prefer RHIA, RHIT, CPC, or CCS certifications
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Collect, analyze, and maintain accurate cancer data
  • Abstract clinical and demographic data from patient records
  • Ensure timely submission to registries
  • Collaborate with medical staff for data accuracy
  • Conduct follow-ups and participate in quality control
  • Support research and stay updated on registry standards
