Job summary

TESA Research Inc. is seeking a Cancer Genomics Data Scientist to identify, retrieve, and prepare genomic and clinical data for our proprietary software platform.

You will collaborate with the VP of Cancer Genomics and the software team to independently perform data extraction, transformation, and integration across public and proprietary datasets. Ideal candidates have a PhD, hands‑on experience with DNA/RNA analysis pipelines, and a strong foundation in cancer genomics.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genomics, or a related field; PhD preferred
• Hands‑on experience with DNA and RNA analysis pipelines (e.g., differential expression analysis, GSEA, CNV calling, ASCAT)
• Experience with public and proprietary genomic and clinical data repositories
• Solid understanding of cancer genomics and related datasets
• Proficiency in scripting/programming (Python, R) and command‑line bioinformatics tools
• Ability to work independently on data transformation while collaborating with scientists and engineers
• Strong attention to detail in a fast‑moving early‑stage company environment

Responsibilities

• Data Acquisition: Identify and download genomic and clinical datasets from public repositories and proprietary databases
• Data Preparation & Transformation: Clean, curate, harmonize, and format data for the platform
• Pipeline Execution: Run DNA and RNA analysis pipelines to generate processed datasets
• Platform Loading & QC: Load datasets into the platform, verify data integrity and formatting
• Scientific Collaboration: Work with the VP of Cancer Genomics to understand data needs and priorities
• Cross‑Functional Support & Documentation: Collaborate with engineering on ingestion issues and maintain clear provenance and pipeline documentation
