Job summary

Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center's Bioinformatics Shared Resource seeks an AI Research Scientist to develop and deploy advanced ML, DL, and large language model solutions for cancer research. The role spans data to discovery, bridging bioinformatics with software engineering and scalable infrastructure.

You will work at the intersection of AI, bioinformatics, and software engineering to create reproducible AI-enabled workflows, collaborate with investigators, and accelerate AI integration

Qualifications

• PhD in bioinformatics, CS, or related field or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of ML/DL experience.
• 2+ years with large language models and retrieval-augmented generation.
• Strong Python skills and ML framework experience.
• Experience deploying models on HPC or cloud environments.
• Experience with backend services, APIs, databases, containers, version control, full-stack development.
• Ability to work independently in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate ML/DL approaches for cancer genomics, transcriptomics, single-cell, and imaging data.
• Fine-tune, evaluate, and deploy LLMs and biomedical foundation models for cancer research.
• Develop AI agents and language model-based systems for bioinformatics analysis and workflow automation.
• Build full-stack applications integrating AI models, workflows, databases, and APIs.
• Deploy and optimize AI models on HPC clusters and cloud platforms with scalable pipelines.
• Consult with Massey investigators on study design and analytical strategy.
• Collaborate on cancer-focused studies across multi-omics and digital pathology.
