  • At least 2 years of experience with large language models including evaluation, prompt design, fine-tuning, and deployment.
  • Strong Python programming skills and experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.

Job description

The Bioinformatics Shared Resource at Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center seeks an AI Research Scientist to develop and deploy machine learning, deep learning, and large language model solutions for cancer research. The role bridges artificial intelligence, bioinformatics, and software engineering to create scalable AI-enabled computational solutions for cancer genomics, imaging, and precision oncology. The scientist will consult with investigators, build full-stack applications, and optimize models on high-performance computing and cloud platforms while contributing to publications and scientific dissemination.

Key qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computer science, biomedical informatics, computational biology, artificial intelligence, data science, or closely related field
  • At least 2 years of demonstrated experience in machine learning and deep learning
  • At least 2 years of experience with large language models including evaluation, prompt design, fine-tuning, and deployment
  • Strong Python programming skills and experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, or comparable frameworks
  • Experience deploying models on high-performance computing clusters and/or cloud environments
  • Experience with modern software development including backend services, APIs, databases, containers, and version control
