Job summary

Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center's Bioinformatics Shared Resource seeks an AI Research Scientist to advance ML, DL, LLM solutions for cancer research, blending bioinformatics with full‑stack development and HPC/cloud deployment.

You will develop, fine-tune, and deploy AI models for genomics, single-cell and spatial omics, digital pathology, and multi-omics, collaborating with investigators to translate cancer questions into scalable AI workflows and reproducible software.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in relevant field or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
• At least 2 years of experience in machine learning and deep learning.
• Experience with large language models: evaluation, prompt design, fine-tuning, deployment.
• Strong programming in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX).
• Experience deploying models on HPC clusters or cloud environments.
• Experience with backend services, APIs, databases, containers, and full-stack development.
• Ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary cancer research environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; collaborative culture.

Responsibilities

• Develop, adapt, and evaluate ML/DL approaches for high-dimensional datasets.
• Fine-tune and deploy large language models for cancer research applications.
• Develop AI agents and language model-based systems for analysis and workflow automation.
• Build full-stack applications integrating AI models and bioinformatics workflows.
• Deploy and optimize AI models on HPC and cloud platforms and develop scalable pipelines.
• Collaborate with Massey investigators on study design and analytical strategy.
• Contribute to manuscripts, grants, and software dissemination.
