Job summary

New Opportunities, Inc. is seeking a full-time CAN coordinator to support the Coordinated Access Network for Meriden/Middletown/Wallingford. You will supervise frontline staff, coordinate housing referrals, and oversee HMIS data quality to ensure efficient service delivery for homeless clients.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in social services or related field and at least two years of experience in housing case management or community organizing. A valid CT driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in housing case management, advocacy, or community organizing is required.
  • Knowledge of HMIS and related data concepts is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate CAN functions with partner agencies and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Supervise front-line staff for CAN assessments, housing referrals, and data collection.
  • Maintain relationships with CAN members and leadership.
  • Monitor shelter wait lists and prioritize bed usage per policy.
  • Report updates and provide policy recommendations at CAN meetings.
  • Oversee housing placement activities and track progress with providers.
