Job summary

American Electric Power in Columbus, Ohio is offering a paid Talent Acquisition & Human Resources Intern position for Summer 2027. You will gain hands-on HR experience, support campus recruiting events, draft communications, and help manage intern programs and logistics.

This 10–12 week program provides mentoring, exposure to HR operations, and projects that drive intern engagement. You should be a sophomore pursuing business or HR with a 3.0 GPA, strong writing, and proficiency with Microsoft

Qualifications

• Sophomore year of a bachelor’s degree in business, HR, or a related field by Summer 2027.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Strong writing and organizational skills; attention to detail.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
• Canva familiarity is a plus.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Graduation date must be December 2027 or later.
• This position is not eligible for sponsorship (OPT, CPT not eligible).

Responsibilities

• Coordinate intern orientation, learning sessions, and career-development activities.
• Assist campus recruiting events logistics (career fairs, info sessions).
• Draft newsletters, announcements, and FAQs for interns.
• Track intern data, attendance, and engagement metrics.
